A creamy, aromatic twist on the classic Italian dessert, this Earl Grey Tiramisu combines mascarpone and whipped cream infused with Earl Grey tea for a refreshing and elegant treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 large egg yolks, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tub (8 ounces) mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1 Earl Grey tea bag
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 27 soft ladyfingers, split
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1-1/4 cups hot water
  • Candied lemon peel, optional

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until pale yellow, 3-4 minutes. Add mascarpone cheese; beat until smooth, 2-3 minutes.
  2. Grind Earl Grey tea leaves into a fine powder. In another bowl, beat heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, and ground tea until medium peaks form, 4-5 minutes. Fold whipped cream into mascarpone mixture; set aside.
  3. In a shallow bowl, combine 2 tea bags, sugar, and hot water; whisk until dissolved. Let stand 2 minutes.
  4. Arrange 9 ladyfinger halves round side-up in an 8-in. square baking dish. Brush with tea mixture. Spread one-third of mascarpone cream on top. Repeat layers twice more.
  5. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Before serving, garnish with candied lemon peel or sprinkle with loose Earl Grey tea if desired.

Notes

  • Chill overnight for best flavor and texture.
  • For a citrusy kick, add lemon zest to the mascarpone cream.
  • Use soft ladyfingers for best soaking results.
  • Decorate with candied lemon peel for an elegant presentation.
